FORKLIFT Training:

According to the US Department of Labor (DOL) OSHA website:

“Forklift overturns are the leading cause of fatalities involving forklifts and they represent about 25% of all forklift-related deaths”.

“It is a violation of Federal law for anyone UNDER 18 years of age to operate a forklift or for anyone OVER 18 years of age who is not properly trained and certified to do so.” (emphasis added)

Section 1910.178 (l)(1)i:  The employer shall ensure that each powered industrial truck operator is competent to operate a powered industrial truck safely, as demonstrated by the successful completion of the training and evaluation specified in this paragraph (l).

Section 1910.178 (l)(1)ii: Prior to permitting an employee to operate a powered industrial truck (except for training purposes), the employer shall ensure that each operator has successfully completed the training required by this paragraph (l)
